Sunday, January 16th we will get the first hints on who might win the Oscars. Golden Globe is the first step there – and the winners of a Golden Globe is often a favorite for the Oscars, too.
IMDB has en excellent list HERE of all the nominees. And i will concentrate on giving my opinion on some of the nominees.
For Best picture we have Black Swan, The Fighter, The King´s Speech, Inception and The Social Network. I have only seen two of them; Inception and The Social Network. I liked them booth so either one can win in my opinion but i guess either The Social Network or The King´s Speech will win. In the Best Actor-categories we see Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Colin Firth (The King´s Speech) James Franco (128 hours), Ryan Gosling (Blue Valentine) and Mark Wahlberg for The Fighter. I thought Jesse was good in The Social Newtork – maybe not “Winner”-good but solid. I am looking forward to see James performance in 128 hours and guess he will win. For Best Director we see the people behind the movies that are nominated for Best Picture (Check the link above if you want to see the names) but i am hoping for Christopher Nolan just because i like him!
For Best Animated Film i really hope for How to train your dragon – great, great movie! But i hink Toy Story 3 will win this. Denmark is nomineted for Best Foreign Languege Film with “Hævnen” (Literally translated “The Revenge” but the movie is called “In a Better World”) but i have not seen this yet. I will as soon as i can.
For Best Television Drama we have some interesting ones – Boardwalk Empire, Dexter, The Good Wife, Mad Man and The Walking Dead. For Best Television Musical or Comedy we have The Big Bang Theory, The Big C, Glee, Modern Family, Nurse Jackie and 30 Rock. Once again, check IMDB for a full list (Link in the beginning of the post) – extra fun is of course Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Go Sheldon! Im also hoping for Eric Stonestreet in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television-category.
23.59 was the time that the first of the three Lord of The Rings-movies started at Colosseum in Oslo. I think its really cool that we have the world largest THX-certified cinema (and also the biggest cinema at all in Northern Europe) here in my city and even if it was strange to see the almost ten years old copies of the film, instead of todays crystal clear digital releases, it was a great experience. People screamed of joy and applause every single key moment in the movies (Aragon and Legolas always had the highest cheers!) and what stroke me the most is how well made this movies (still) are. I have seen them way to many times to remember but its always a cool feeling to watch the entire trilogy from start to end. People brought their sleeping bags, free Red Bull was handed out, people fell asleep and it was a great atmosphere in the full 978 seated cinema. When i went to the toilet people where lying around in the entrance area on their madrases and it felt like a great and geeky night/morning!
From top left; Hans, Jonas and Solveig are staging a session of pure tiredness during the first pause. You see people resting in front of the screen (not during the movies but in the pauses, but some people actually had madrases that they lay on the floor instead of sitting in their chairs. Then you see some of the crowd during the second pauses, and then the morning sun on the subway on my way home.
I saw some interview with Tom Hanks from “Inside Actors Studio” and felt a sudden need to see some movies with one of the greatest actors ever. So my Wednesday turned into an overload of Tom Hanks. Here are the movies im gonna see today;
Okey, so six movies… Glad i got this idea early in the day!
Right now i´m playing Enslaved to the Xbox 360 and it hit me that a long time ago (three years i think) i actually did an interview with Tameem Antoniades who is a founder of Ninja Theory and also one of the creator of the PS3-title Heavenly Sword and now Enslaved. Pretty cool. We actually did this interview at the Nordic Games-expo in Malmö.
The interview is in English (but the first seconds – the introduction – is in swedish) and me (and also Alex of GAMEcore.se) and Tameem talks a lot about the creation of Heavenly Sword – but also about Hollywood (Because Andy Serkins – who played for example Gollum in the Lord of The Rings-movies is involved in Ninja Theorys games).
So, over to Enslaved. I like it very much so far. The graphic is fantastic and the world you play in (an apocalypse New York) is a cool playground. The game is very well scripted and i like that – and of course Andy Serkins does a great voice acting as the lead role of Monkey (He also CO-directs the games cinematic sequences). I will come up with more impressions later, maybe a review!
You can listen to the interview with Tameem Antoniades HERE.
